Privacy & data protection

Privacy Policy

Velohost is designed to operate with minimal data collection, no behavioural profiling, and no commercial exploitation of user activity. This policy explains what data is processed, why it is processed, and how it is protected.

Effective date: 01 January 2026

1. Purpose and scope

This Privacy Policy explains how Velohost handles data across all websites, tools, plugins, APIs, and related services operated under the Velohost brand.

Velohost’s default position is to avoid collecting personal data wherever technically possible. Most services are available without accounts, logins, or persistent identifiers.

2. Data controller

Velohost services are operated by Velohost UK Limited, incorporated in England (company number 16987207). Registered office address: Bartle House, 9 Oxford Court, Manchester, England, M2 3WQ.

For privacy or data-protection enquiries, you may contact: [email protected]

3. Data Velohost does not collect

Unless explicitly stated for a specific feature, Velohost does not:

  • Require user accounts or logins
  • Store historical query data or analysis results
  • Track users across pages or sessions
  • Create behavioural or advertising profiles
  • Sell, rent, or share personal data
  • Use third-party advertising networks

4. Data processed to deliver services

To provide functionality, Velohost tools may temporarily process limited technical data supplied directly by the user.

  • Domain names, IP addresses, or hostnames submitted for analysis
  • Configuration values explicitly entered by the user
  • Request metadata required to deliver the response

This data is processed in memory, used only to generate the response, and discarded immediately after the request completes, unless a feature explicitly states otherwise.

5. Cookies and local storage

Velohost does not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or cross-site profiling technologies.

Limited cookies or local storage may be used only for essential functionality, such as remembering consent preferences or maintaining basic session integrity.

6. Analytics and Microsoft Clarity

Velohost uses Microsoft Clarity to understand aggregated usage patterns and identify usability or accessibility issues.

Clarity is used specifically to:

  • Identify broken interfaces or confusing layouts
  • Improve accessibility and usability
  • Detect performance or interaction issues

Clarity is configured to:

  • Load only after user consent where legally required
  • Mask form fields and sensitive inputs
  • Avoid advertising or cross-site tracking
  • Provide aggregated, non-identifying insights

Analytics are not used for advertising, monetisation, or behavioural profiling.

7. IP addresses and server logs

Like all internet services, Velohost may temporarily process IP addresses and request metadata as part of standard server operations.

These logs are used solely for:

  • Security and abuse prevention
  • Rate limiting
  • Operational debugging

Logs are retained only for the minimum period required and are not used to track individual users.

8. Data security

Velohost applies appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect systems against unauthorised access, misuse, or disruption.

This includes infrastructure security controls, access restrictions, monitoring, and regular review of operational practices.

9. Your rights

Under UK data-protection law, individuals have rights relating to personal data, including access and erasure.

As Velohost minimises personal data collection, many of these rights will not apply in practice.

10. Policy updates

This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically to reflect legal requirements, operational changes, or improvements to services.

Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date at the top of this page.
